A Big Old Nerd
I just reread my last post. I was talking about how that was an awesome history book, and how I want to read more about history.

You should check out "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. It sounds similar to what you describe, going from Earth 4 billion years in the past to Earth in the present. However this book focuses more on science, how it has changed through the years, and how that has shaped our understanding of the world around us. Another MUST READ if I do say so myself...
