Grindhouse

I just got back from the prescreening of the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino double feature, Grindhouse. Both movies were partially filmed in Austin, and the directors tried very hard to namedrop or show many landmark places.

Rodriguez' first half, Planet Terror, was a homage to the low budget gory zombie movie, and provided tons of laughs and hilarious action scenes. Tarantino's Deathproof was his own take on a slasher movie. It had a slow start that featured his witty dialogs in an all-too-familiar manner, but packed some incredibly satisfying punch in the end.

Overall, I was surprised by how nice most of the cast was to everybody.

Tarantino estaba mas empericao que el carajo.

Tarantino was shaking hands with everybody, even if you didn't reach out for it. Rodriguez posed for a few pictures. Kurt Russel, aka Snake Pliskin, spent all the time getting interviewed. Many of the people from the cast were posing with everybody.

People from Hollywood are ugly as shit. They are shorter that in the silver screen, and wear makeup that looks like big pancakes in their faces. The women look old, with worn out boobs. The men look wrinkly and with hangovers.

Finally, I got a poster autographed by the one and only Danny Trejo, aka Navajas, aka Razor Charlie, aka The Mexican't, aka Machete. If you don't know him, its ok. He always plays very small but memorable roles, as you can tell from the names of his characters. And he is so much more of a badass than any of the other big name actors.
